Keep Santa Clara Valley Beautiful (KSCVB) is a countywide initiative dedicated to removing litter and graffiti from local highways and transit centers. As a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, we transform community habits to build a cleaner, more sustainable environment.

Who can be a volunteer?
Anyone interested in transforming our community through service is welcome to volunteer. Volunteers must be at least 16 years or older.
What should I wear to a clean-up event?
We encourage volunteers to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and sun protection (i.e. hats and sunglasses). Wear layers if possible. Be prepared for colder weather conditions in the morning.
What does Keep Santa Clara Valley Beautiful provide volunteers the day of the clean-up event?
We provide volunteers with clean-up equipment, including trash picker, trash bags, and gloves. Hard hats, safety glasses, and safety vests will be provided for highway clean-ups by Caltrans. Additionally, we provide volunteers with a single bottled water and snacks.
What can I expect the day of the clean-up event?
Volunteers must check in with the Keep Santa Clara Valley Beautiful table to sign a waiver. After everyone has checked in, there will be a safety briefing to inform volunteers of hazards, site boundary lines, and answer additional questions. Volunteers are then released to pick up litter within the allotted time. At the end, the group will gather for a picture and snacks.
What happens to the clean-up event if it rains?
If rain or unsafe weather conditions are forecasted for the day of the clean-up, we will cancel the event.
How do I report litter and graffiti on a highway ramp, VTA bus stop or transit center?

Lyndale Community Resiliency Project
The Lyndale Community Resiliency Project is a collaborative urban renewal initiative focused on environmental restoration in San José’s Lyndale neighborhood. Jointly led by the BeautifySJ program and VTA, the project brings together the San José Conservation Corps, Our City Forest, and the Lyndale Community Group to reduce illegal dumping and graffiti while expanding local green spaces.
Green Line Water Conservation Landscaping and Urban Pock Forests Project
VTA is working with Our City Forest (OCF) to make three transit stations, The Great Mall Transit Center, Curtner Station, and Santa Teresa Station greener and better for the environment. Instead of keeping old, water-hungry grass and worn-out plants, the team are planting drought-tolerant trees and plants that use much less water and help cool down the area. With help from OCF's AmeriCorps crews and local volunteers, each station will grow into a small "pocket forest" that supports wildlife, reduces heat, saves water, and creates healthier spaces for everyone who uses transit.
Countywide Litter Abatement Program
The Countywide Litter Abatement Program brings together community volunteers, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Work Program, Keep Santa Clara Valley Beautiful, Beautify SJ, San Jose CHP, Caltrans District 4, Clean California, Valley Water, and SCVWMI to keep roads and neighborhoods across Santa Clara Valley clean. Through regular volunteer cleanups and year-round support from the Sheriff's work program crew, the program removes trash, protects local waterways, and makes public spaces safer and beautiful. A major goal is to encourage long-term behavior change by teaching people why littering harms their community and showing how consistent teamwork can make a visible difference. Together, these partners are helping keep Santa Clara Valley beautiful, clean, and safe!
