It’s a celebration! May 1 kicks off Older Americans Month and this year’s theme, “Champion Your Health”, invites us to get off of our couches, trade our remotes for tennis shoes, and take a stroll around the block or bike ride through the neighborhood.
The Administration for Community Living (ACL), whose goals include ensuring older Americans participate fully in their communities, leads the observance each year. The focus for 2026 renews a commitment to wellbeing by choosing more nutritious foods, accessing preventative care, becoming and staying active, building and maintaining social connections that support emotional well-being, and overall, developing common habits that lead to living healthier and longer lives.
The VTA Senior Program will be joining in the celebration with the community. Meet us at either of these tabling events below as we share our resources and discuss the many ways taking transit benefits physical and mental health.
