The VTA ACCESS Paratransit team wrapped up the year with a successful and spirited Coffee with the Community event on Thursday, December 11, at the Mountain View Senior Center. This event provided was an opportunity for the Regional Transportation Services (RTS) team to connect directly with the community, gather feedback, and, in true holiday fashion, spread a little cheer!
The event saw enthusiastic participation with 45 attendees joining the dialogue.
We kicked off with welcoming remarks from VTA’s Chief Operating Officer, Nauni Singh, setting a collaborative tone for the discussions ahead. Attendees then heard from our eligibility and operations contractors, who offered a concise but thorough presentation. They covered the essential details of ACCESS Paratransit, how to qualify for the service, and a detailed look at the day-to-day operations.
The core of the event was the interactive session where VTA staff facilitated engagement, allowing for small group discussions. This allowed the team to listen directly to riders’ experiences and gather valuable, honest feedback for service improvement.
To wrap up the year in good spirits, the event featured a festive raffle of gifts. Closing remarks were provided by Deputy Director of Operations Development, Lisa Vickery, who highlighted the importance of community input in helping VTA dedication to continuously improving services for all passengers.
The successful execution of this and all Coffee with the Community events is a true team effort, and RTS couldn’t have pulled off this gathering without the support of several key VTA departments. A huge thank you goes out to Marketing, who secured the freebies for the giveaways and covered the refreshments that make the “Coffee” part of the event possible. Thanks also to Creative Services for capturing the day’s great moments with photos, IT for managing the technical setup, and our ADA Coordinator for being present to offer essential support. Your collaborative efforts reinforce our dedication to accessibility and inclusivity, and we are grateful to everyone who played a role in making this event a success.
