Our Gratitude for Your Year-Long Involvement
12/22/2025

As a year jam-packed with community meetings, workshops, open houses and other events comes to a close, VTA would like to thank the many members of our community who provided feedback, helping to inform VTA’s various projects. We know that free time can be hard to come by, so we appreciate everyone who offered their time to talk to us about transportation. VTA's Community Engagement team talked to thousands of people at more than 180 different events this year.

2025 was a busy year for VTA’s Transit-Oriented Development Program, where community members were invited to envision and provide feedback on future housing developments at the Great Mall, Hostetter, and River Oaks properties. We received hundreds of comments on how our passengers access transit in these select locations. In May neighbors were invited to tour the new housing development at Tamien Station as it was under construction. Fast forward to the end of the year, when families are now moving in!

More than 1,500 people provided feedback on everything from transit signal priority and bus-only lanes to Clipper Cards and fare-paying preferences for VTA’s Transit Speed & Reliability Program.

South County residents got into the action with several events leading up to the May groundbreaking of the US 101/SR 25 Interchange Project in Gilroy. This is a project designed to better accommodate the traffic demands in South Santa Clara County.

In September, we welcomed 60 local residents to the Roosevelt Community Center for the Strategic Plan Open House, where participants shared ideas about priorities for VTA’s future.

Throughout the entire year, members of the Community Outreach team have been active along the Capitol Expressway corridor where construction continues on the Eastridge to BART Regional Connector. Staff engaged with residents at numerous neighborhood, school, holiday, and cultural events, in addition to regular stakeholder meetings and office hours.

This is just a sampling of the engagement activities that took place this year, and 2026 is shaping up to have a lot more of the same. Make a resolution to join us next year! Be sure to subscribe to updates on the projects and programs you’re interested in and opportunities for public feedback.
